Price: $49.99

This rod is designed specifically for panfish, such as Perch, Crappies, Bluegills, and stream Trout. I like to use this rod with light 1/32, 1/16, and 1/8 oz. jigs. It's great for pitching them over the weeds and the edge of the weed line. This rod can also be used with small slip bobbers. This light action rod is designed to help you feel more bites. This rod is also good to use with small jigs, poppers, steamer flies, and 1/64th oz. gypsy jigs, or can just be used with split shot and a piece of a worm or a leech. A great rod for casting a floating bobber, this type of bobber can be filled with water and will then cast further. For the shore fisherman, this is a must.

Line: 4-8lb.  Lure: 1/16-1/4 oz.
Price: $49.99

This rod is one of the more versatile I have. It can be used for Walleye, Bass, and more. Use with heavier 1/8-5/8 oz. jigs and a little heavier line. I prefer 6 lb. test line, for rigging and jigging. This rod can also be used for slip bobber fishing, pitching shallow and deep running crankbaits and light plastic worms. Same great qualities as the 5’9” rod, but a little longer and a little lighter tip. Also can use 1/16 oz. jig with 4 or 6 lb line. I like to use a stand up jig head, with a minnow , leech, or half a crawler. When the fish are lethargic, sometimes its best to hop the jig a couple of times, drag it, let it sit and repeat. Lots of times you’ll get a bite when its just sitting there.

This rod is also a nice bass rod. I use it for trolling and casting crankbaits, slip bobber fishing, jigging, rigging, and light 1/2-3/4 oz. bottom bouncers. I also use it for small spinners on my bottom bouncers. It's a rod I like to use in a little deeper water, such as 15' – 30'. This rod is especially good on windy days, when you want the rod closer to the boat, has more of a forgiving tip. I will sometimes use a small spinner harness on the bottom bouncer. I use 2 small leeches, one on each hook. Hook leeches by the nose so they swim naturally. With the spinner spinning and 2 leeches hooked through the nose, this is a very deadly combination. Take crawlers and leeches when the water temperature is in the 50’s, sometimes crawlers work better in warmer water.

This rod is great for deeper rig fishing, casting crankbaits, plastic worm fishing, and trolling with light rock runner bottom bouncers from 1/2-1 oz. It works great with my Roach Rigs® and rainbow spinners. It's my #1 rod for deep riggin' and slip bobber fishing. It is great for slip bobber fishing and roach rigging. When rigging sometimes you need to use a longer snell. If the fish have been pressured, sometimes I use a 6’ or 9’ snell, with a crawler injected with air,so it floats a little higher off the bottom. Sometimes bigger fish suspend and smaller fish stay tight to bottom, where they feel safer. The Northland® Roach Rig® is very adjustable for extending your snell, when needed. So if you see them on the sonar go with a longer snell.

Line: 4-8lb.  Lure: 1/16-1/4 oz.
Price: $49.99

This rod is great for bottom bouncing, trolling crankbaits, and casting crankbaits for Walleye, Bass, and more. This is a very good rod for dead stick fishing in rod holders. It'll use 2 of these on the inside, and 2 of the 8'6" on the outside - a perfect pair for trolling cranks and spinner harnesses. It telescopes for easy storage and fits well in rod holders. This rod is a must for the serious angler. It's a great rod for light bucktail fishing, and I take this rod to Canada for spoon fishing for northern pike & lake trout. I also use this rod for heavy bottom bouncers. Good rod for running bottom bouncers and inline sinkers, I sometimes use a gold or silver light spoon for an attractor, 3 or 4 feet ahead of a spinner harness. This works great for walleye on the Great Lakes - just add a nightcrawler to the harness.

I use this rod for all my trolling with boards, heavy bottom bouncers, and big crankbaits. I also use this rod for lead line trolling crankbaits and spinners. It is telescopic and stores in any rod locker. It's tough and will handle most freshwater fish. I even use it for Salmon fishing up in Alaska! It works great for big water fishing and makes a great flippin' rod for bass in slop. This rod is also perfect for dipsy divers. When I use dipsy divers, I use a 8’ leader tied to the back. Use 20 lb. test, 8lb. diameter super line, with a good cross lock swivel. I use crankbaits, spoons and crawler harnesses. On spoons, I like to add a plastic tail, it gives a little more flash and action. Its also a great rod for using light bucktails and for pitching Northland® Slurpies®.

This rod is a lighter trolling rod. I use this rod for trolling smaller boards with spinners and diving crankbaits, both deep and shallow. I also use this rod for 1/2-1 oz. bottom bouncers. It has a special action for light biters. You can use either mono super lines, or light lead line with this rod. I would recommend counter reels on my trolling rods. This is also my most popular trolling rod, and we completely sold out in 2006. It makes for a great steelhead rod for the Northwest anglers. Excellent super line rod. When using inline sinkers, use ¾ to 1 oz., 45 to 60 feet in front of the crawler harness for trolling 30 feet of water. I like to use a gold, silver, or copper rainbow spinner harness. I like to use a treble hook on the back of the harness. Change the crawler every 10 to 15 minutes, fresh bait is best. Vary the speed ½ to 1 mile per hour according to the water temperature: Cold temps slow, warmer water faster.

Line: 4-8lb.  Lure: 1/16-1/4 oz.
Price: $59.99

This rod is for long lining, trolling crankbaits, board fishing, and is great for surf casting too! It’s for use with a spinning reel and 8-12 lb. line. This rod is also great for lake trout, or as a boat rod. It’s got the same action as my 9’6” leadcore rod, for use with spinning reels. This rod is also has a great action for downriggers. On long rods storage is critical, most rod lockers are only 8' long, that’s why we use the telescopic rods. Be careful that you don’t jam the rods in. I also put a little label on the reel, telling the line size. This one telescopes down to fit in an 8' rod locker.

This rod is for leadcore trolling. No one had a good rod for leadcore line, so I designed one! This rod is for board fishing and straight lead line trolling. If you want to catch Walleyes and other fish constantly, pick up a set of all of my leadcore trolling rods. Use with your favorite baitcast or line counter reels. I prefer 18 lb. lead line, always tie on a 10, 20, or 30’ leader. Tying the leader to the lead line is very important, there is a special way we do it: Strip out 2” or so of the lead line, stick the mono in where the lead was, do 2 overhand knots and tighten them up over the lead line. Add a swivel to the bottom of leader that goes to your bait. This is the very best way I’ve ever used or seen, to tie lead to a leader. I learned this from my fishing buddy Todd Frank. You’ll love this one. On long rods storage is critical, most rod lockers are only 8' long, that’s why we use the telescopic rods. Be careful that you don’t jam the rods in. I also put a little label on the reel, telling the line size. This one telescopes down to fit in an 8' rod locker.

Let’s ‘Get The Lead Out!’

Gary Roach Professional Fishing Products:
Mr Walleye® Series -Mr Walleye® Combo -Mr Walleye® Superpro™

Mr Walleye Series

“I wanted a series of rods for all the different types of fishing I do, with all the right actions, lengths, and guide placement. My rods are made for the way I fish. They help me catch more fish, and they will help you catch more too.” -Gary Roach

100% Graphite blanks

Our blanks are constructed of 100% Graphite. We do not mix our graphite with glass fiber layers, or other fillers or composite materials. Each rod we produce is made from 100% carbon fiber graphite prepreg cloth. Each model utilizes it's own special mandrel for rolling the blank. Maintaining a custom mandrel for each blank is a bit more costly, but each of our rods is individually unique in it's action; exactly the way Gary designed it.

Contoured all-natural 1” OD cork handles and foregrips

If your rod doesn't have a comfortable and usable handle, fishing becomes more of a task than a pleasure. Gary uses 1" diameter natural cork handles, so you can get a good feel of the rod, and there is more torque applied from your arm, making it easier to handle. The quality of the cork used is usually found on rods costing two or three times more. The handle of our rod will last much longer, and weather less, extending the rod's longevity and usefulness.

Lightweight stainless steel guides with Stainless Steel rings

Guides add weight to a rod, but while using a lightweight guide may solve the weight problem, two new potential problems may exist: Cost, and durability. Not all lightweight guides have ring materials that can handle the rigors of using braided, or "superlines". In addition, the high performance lightweight ring materials that can handle all types of line are very costly to use. To allow us to keep Mr Walleye Series rods affordable, yet maintain the performance qualities needed, Gary turned to stainless steel ring guides. The simple design of the stainless ring bound inside a stainless frame allows the use of all types of line, while maintaining the light weight needed for proper rod balance.

Tapered rear handle with rubber butt cap

The butt cap of a fishing rod is a high wear surface. The butt is often on the ground when you're not fishing, and if you travel often enough, it will show signs of wear well befoer any other part of your rod. Many rods have hard plastic butt caps to combat the wear issue, but that becomes very uncomfortable when placed against your hip fighting a fish. Gary has found the happy medium, using a 1-1/16" diameter soft rubber rounded butt cap. It's durable so you will not damage the end of the handle moving your rods around, and it's comfortable against your hip. It also is narrow enough that it fits easily into rod holders, and does not impede your ability to remove the rod quickly when you see a strike.

Tapered foregrip with composition cork tip

The foregrip of your rod is seldom thought of, but it's the first thing you grab onto when you set the hook. Therefore it must be the correct length, and contoured for an easy grip. Gary has bulged his foregrips slightly in the center to match the contour of your palm and fingers.

Fixed hook keepers

Hook Keepers are often overlooked on a rod. Gary felt it's not only a requirement to have one, but that it must be located in the proper place. A hook keeper needs to be in the proper alignment with the guide train, and it must be fixed, so it does not flop around and cause unintended noise and vibration when jigging or casting. Gary fixes the proper location and size for the hook keeper on each rod.

Tapered reel seats with “soft-touch” exterior

There is nothing more uncomfortable about a rod than the standard spinning reel seat. The reel seat is narrower than the cork handle, has plastic or metal threads with a locking ring on it, and the exposed edges of the cork handle. Gary opted for a design that was comfortable to hold, where you palm remained on the cork handle, and your fingers were not in contact with the hard plastic threads, or a hood. Our foregrips screw down to lock the reel in place, and are far easier on your fingers and hands. Just a comfortable and easy to use reel seat wasn't good enough for Gary. He went one step further and coated the reel seat with a soft-touch PVC coating. The PVC coating makes for a soft feeling on your hands, and reduces slippage, especially when wet. It also serves to help lock the reel foot in place, greatly reducing the ability of your reel to slip or move once locked.

Ferrule-less 2-piece Designs:

There is nothing that detracts from a 2 piece rod more than the ferrule joint. Usually situated between the stripper and 2nd guides, it creates a long dead spot on the rod, and due to it being between two other guides, the dead spot is accentuated. Gary solves this problem by removing the ferrule, and allowing the joint to exist inside of an existing guide. This results in the rod pieces being two dissimilar lengths, but preserves the action and performance of the rod. Because the winding wrap around a guide stem is deeper than most ferrules, it provides for a more secure mount which results in less breakage and an overall better feel to the rod. Most anglers cannot tell the difference between our 1 piece and 2 piece models by feel alone.
